I just got back a little while ago from the Tron: Legacy event held
at IMAX theaters in five cities- New York, Los Angeles, London,
Toronto, and Sydney. No details were released beforehand describing
what would be shown. Cell phones had to be checked and everyone had
to go through a metal detector. This made me believe that we would
be shown more than just the trailer that will be attached to Alice
in Wonderland next week. I was wrong. All we were shown was the new
(and short) trailer. Why the secrecy for just a trailer? We did get
a cool FLYNN LIVES t-shirt from American Apparel which helped
lessen the disappointment.
The trailer itself was very impressive. There's definitely a big
wow factor involved. The trailer is not long at all but it is
extremely effective. Disney will benefit immensely from having it
attached to Alice in Wonderland, which will no doubt bring in the
masses. I'm actually more excited for Tron: Legacy than I was for
Avatar after seeing the trailer.
The trailer begins with Alan Bradley (Bruce Boxleitner) talking to
Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), Kevin Flynn's son. Sam arrives at
Flynn's Arcade via motorcycle, which is completely abandoned. He
goes inside only to find a hidden room behind the Tron arcade game.
We're then taken into the world of Tron which is nothing short of
amazing. It's visually stunning and this is where that wow factor
comes in. We see Quorra (Olivia Wilde) sporting a short black
hairdo. Jeff Bridges looks badass as always and overall the trailer
is awesome. It's so well put together and I don't think many people
will be disappointed when they see it next week.
