Ryan Gosling will be joining Steve Carell in an untitled Warner
Bros. comedy. The film centers on a father (Carell) whose life
unravels while he deals with a marital crisis and tries to manage
his relationship with his children. That sounds hilarious! Gosling
will be playing the suave best friend of Carell's character.
John Requa and Glenn Ficarra (I Love You Phillip Morris, Bad Santa,
Bad News Bears, and Cats and Dogs) will be directing. Warner Bros.
purchased Dan Fogelman's spec script for a massive $2 million
against $2.5 million. For a studio to shell out that much money on
a spec script is quite unusual. Someone must have perfected their
elevator pitch! The movie will be produced by Carell's Carousel
banner.
My favorite Ryan Gosling role by far was when he played Sean Hanlon
on Breaker High. The mere fact that he starred on that show and
went on to become a best actor nominee is truly an accomplishment.
This is a good move considering he hasn't starred in any mainstream
movies since The Notebook.
