Katherine Heigl Joins 'One for the Money'

by Steph Sharples

Katherine Heigl has joined 'One for the Money', a film based on Janet Evanovich's popular Plum series. There are fifteen novels in the series and a sixteenth one will be released this summer. I've never heard of them. I guess I should read more instead of watching movies and TV. Or not. Heigl will play the title character Stephanie Plum, an unemployed lingerie buyer who becomes a bounty hunter to make ends meet.

Reese Witherspoon had been attached to the role but the project didn't get off the ground. Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith wrote the screenplay. McCullah Lutz wrote 10 Things I Hate About You, Legally Blonde, Ella Enchanted, She's the Man, The House Bunny, and The Ugly Truth. I loved 10 Things I Hate About You, Legally Blonde, and enjoyed She's the Man. Ella Enchanted was good for what it was.

I finally got around to watching The Ugly Truth. The best thing about that movie was Heigl's outfits. There were some intermittent laughs throughout but overall it was nothing special. I actually do like Katherine Heigl as an actor. Sure she's known as a bitch but hey, bitches keep things interesting. It helps that she is a huge box office draw. 27 Dresses earned $160 million worldwide and The Ugly Truth topped that with $205 million worldwide.
